A sweet taste can come from natural, synthetic, genetically modified, or organic sources. The tasting of such variations can cause our tastebuds to conform to sweet additives which appear to be “authentic” but in reality, are variants and imposters of the “real thing”. This Sweet CUP is sending the message to “authenticate” what motivates your actions or your sense of taste and remember your “divine nature”. Collect Sticks, as you begin to deny your fleshly aspirations and embrace your missionary service in the “Spirit of Christ.” As Christians, our “divine nature” or “native disposition” as Saints of the Most High is often challenged by schemes and subtle thoughts presented to us by Satan. These schemes are used to create confusion and conflict in the purpose or intent behind our deeds. However, your Sweet CUP is God’s message to you, that it is time to examine your deeds and “Authenticate” them by the word of God. Recall Paul’s letter to the Colossians…And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him…Colossians 3:17. Your deeds and your words are consistently monitored by The Lord. Yes, God is watching …and listening …and critiquing your heart on the motivation behind your actions. Authenticate!
The book of Psalms provides several statutes the Lord provides in directing us as Saints on examining ourselves in service to Almighty God. Authenticity can be seen throughout many of the Psalms. However, Psalm 119 begins by elaborating on how we, the “Blessed” are undefiled, because we have chosen to walk in the law of the LORD. In other words, the LORD Authenticates us! When we review our words, our motives, and our deeds; and execute the work of the ministry in love along with truth, patience, understanding, kindness, joy, gentleness, and faith, the LORD grants us many blessings. Do not be deceived by Satan. Fleshly desires are contrary to Spiritual services, just as the “carnal mind” is enmity against God. (Romans 8:5-8) Recall Gehazi who traveled with the prophet Elisha (2 Kings 5:27). As the word of God depicts Gehazi’s “motive” for lying to Elisha and returning to ask King Naaman for the money Elisha rejected after healing him from leprosy. We see that Gehazi was deceived by Satan to do evil in the eyesight of God having a “taste” for a carnal reward. Gehazi’s just recompense for his fleshly desire, words, deed, and motive was manifested when the Lord transferred Naaman’s leprosy to him and his descendants forever. Gehazi’s service to God was motivated by his desire for money.
In tasting your Sweet CUP, examine your motives behind your deeds. Calling family, calling friends, buying gifts, attending, or not attending an invitation event, attending special events, desiring a new position at the workplace, and even attending worship service. Ask yourself, “Will this deed be pleasing in the eyesight of God, or is it profitable for a fleshly desire or world self-gain glory I am seeking?” Collect Sticks as you deny yourself and perform your “Authentic” deeds with Christ in mind. Your Sweet CUP wants YOU to “Authenticate” your deeds with the sweet sensation that can only come from Jesus Christ Our Savior!
[…According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue. Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the diving nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ…2 Peter1:3-8 KJV] Amen.
